Ayaz Ali - Assignment 27
Assignment 27
Steve Jobs
- I think I chose to do Steve Jobs, because he has always been a person of interest for me. Apple has been such a successful company and has taken over the world, and who else would I love to read about than the creator himself. I think the most surprising thing I read about was Jobs' vision. Usually we hear about creative or someone's obsession for details. No. Not Steve Jobs, in the biography it explains how Jobs' greatest gift was his reality distortion field. This means that once Jobs' saw the opportunity for a successful product or idea, he would "bend reality to his will until it came true." His willingness in this aspect spread through his team as people would work relentlessly to make sure they put their most into everything they were doing.
- The biggest thing I admire about Jobs' is his willingness and willpower to succeed. He knew what he wanted and what goals he had planned and he worked countless hours to make sure the idea was successful.
- The thing I admired least about Jobs' was the pressure he put on his other team members. He put so much pressure and made everyone feel bad when things were not going good. This can lead to greatness, but at the end of the day, everyone is different and still we must treat everyone with respect in my opinion.
- Steve Jobs' just like everyone has failed. Creating Apple products do not come easy especially when it is the first major technological industry in the business. Creating smartphones, computers, and so many more products do not come easy. His ability to fight through adversity and continue to push through is really admirable.
- I do think the most confusing thing about Jobs' idea was him jumping all over the place. He had many ideas, but they were not organized in the best way at times. It was not anything that was too much of a big deal, it was still a great read.
- The two questions I think I would ask Jobs' would be:
- How did you think of these ideas?
- How did you know who to trust and who to work with?
- I think Steve Jobs thought hard work was necessary to be great. We saw it with the way he worked and the way he expected all of his peers to work as well. I think I share the same opinion, because I think hard work pays off and will be great in the long term. I admire the ways Jobs' led his team, but it was great to see his work pay off and be so successful.
I chose this book as well earlier in the course. Steve was one of my favorite business leaders and was a leader in his pursuit to open and run Apple. He was also incredibly successful with being an innovator and trend creator. However, I shared a similar concern about how he treated his employees, co-founders, and friends. Your people determine your success and I think he really created large obstacles based on how he treated his.
ReplyDeleteShalom Ayaz, the Steve Jobs book was the one I heavily debated on choosing because the man and his accomplishments are so great. The level of innovation brought forth from this man is unprecedented. Not only that, but his vision and drive to make his dreams become reality is something that I think entrepreneurs often overlook. I learned a lot from your post and you did a great job writing it. Thanks!
