Ayaz Ali - Assignment 26

Assignment 26

  • Failure happens. I think everyone reacts to it differently, but everyone fails. It could be something as small as losing a pickup basketball or as big as not getting the house you so desperately wanted. The point is that it happens.
  • This summer has been pretty crazy, and there are some classes that I just am struggling in. I think a big failure that hit me hard was getting a 60 on my first programming exam this semester. The class only has 3 exams and are worth a lot, so the first one got to me. I studied so hard and I thought I did way better than a 60. It was pretty demoralizing, and I was very stressed and did not know what I wanted to do. I think I just sat back and thought about it and told myself that it was going to be okay. I really wanted to do well in the class and I knew that I couldn't do anything but continue to work hard. It taught me to not let one downfall hurt me or mess with me mentally. You have to go through things like this at times, and hopefully I can turn it around in the future.
  • Failure hurts. It hurts me especially a lot, because I usually study very hard for exams, and at times I just do not do too well. I start overthinking everything and instantly get in a bad mood. I think the biggest mistake I make all the time is comparing myself to others. It is a killer, and everyone has to know that is not the way to go. Everyone is different, and certain people are going to be better at certain things than you are. This class has really showed me that everyone is different. Just reading all these different posts, and certain readings about very successful entrepreneurs showed me that it is okay to struggle and fail. The big thing is being strong mentally and continuing to go through the grind and finishing strong.

  1. Hi Ayaz. I agree that everyone fails at some point in life. I also agree that getting a bad test grade can be demoralizing. I try to look forward to what I can do better on the next exam. The good thing is that test grades average out over time so an excellent score on the next exam can really bring up your grade to a range your more comfortable with. One recommendation I have is to try different study methods and use all the resources available to you to prepare for your exams.

  2. Hi Ayaz,
I agree that failure is difficult, but without failures we could not improve ourselves. We all fail at some point of our life and it specially hurts when we know we gave our best. This happened to me with my business stats class; however, I realized that I was missing more time to study. We are all different, which is why we need to find our weaknesses instead of focusing on others.

  3. Hey Ayaz,
It is great that you can reflect on a failure that impacted you. That is very helpful to help with your growth and the lessons can definitely make you a better business owner. I have found that I fail daily in businesses and there are definitely days that you will have extreme wins and extreme failures in the same day. This is incredible in terms of impacting your mental toughness.
