Ayaz Ali - Assignment 14
Assignment 14 - Tenacity & Paying It Forward
1. The behaviors that I developed in this course that really made a big impact on me was definitely spending my time better. Time management is key in college. It was tough for me to learn the skill of time management and this class really helped me improve on it. Since we have assignments due every Friday, I often waited until Friday in the beginning, but now that the semester has picked up, I try to finish work in whatever classes I have as soon as possible so I do not have to worry about it later. This helps you not get flustered and also helps you focus your time on more important things like studying for exams.
2. I think a big moment for me when I felt like giving up was studying for my final exams last summer. I had taken four classes during summer B, which was a large load in such a small amount of time, and towards the end of the semester, I was drained. I did not want to look at anything school related and just wanted to spend the summer like all my friends and enjoy. I finally convinced myself that I could do it and to start with completing one task at a time, and luckily I was able to pass all my final exams with A's, and it really felt amazing. I think I have developed a tenacious attitude over the past two months because I have felt super motivated to study hard and do well in school. I got my priorities straight and I try my absolute best in school and I know I did not come to this school for no reason. Studying and actually retaining information really helped me here as I was feeling great about actually learning things and not just studying to get the A in the class.
3. I think the tips I would offer to next semester's student about fostering the skills that support tenacity would be to create a balance between school work and having fun because you need to do both. Another one would be to manage your time because college can come at you like a speeding car that will never stop, so getting things done beforehand would be very ideal. The last one would be to not be too demoralized if you do not do well on a certain task. We all have that one exam or class that is very tough, and my advice would be to not be too hard on yourself and keep working through it. Get all the help you need and put in the time and you will be just fine. You learn a lot in college. When it comes to developing a tenacious mindset, I would recommend to always speak up. Do not be afraid to ask a question or bring something up, because more likely than not, other people are probably just as curious as you are. Another one would be to never lose hope. One assignment or exam will not define how you do in the class. Work hard and you will be okay. The last one would be to always to pursue your dreams. Do not think your ideas are unrealistic or dumb, because you never know what could be.

Hey Ali!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I also said time management. It is super crucial, as you pointed out, to get these assignments done in a timely manner. Otherwise things pile up and you find yourself desperate and crying in fetal position. I have been there.
I was inspired to read about how you overcame that summer. Great insight and I am sure that although unpleasant, it was a learning experience that you will carry as confidence for future endeavors.
Great job!
Hi Ayaz,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. Before this class, I really did not have great time management skills. I had to get better since sometimes the assignments we have to do are really long or require interviews. I like the tips you gave, especially the one about having fun. Every professor and adviser I have met told me that it is important to create connections, that is why I believe having fun is a good way to get to meet others and create connections. Good job!
Hey Ayaz,
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with your input regarding ensure you use great time management skills. I also love that you mentioned don't get demoralized when you don't do as well on an assignment. You definitely will have a few tests or assignments you score low on an you have to act like an athlete and just focus on the next task to do and let it go. You can easily bounce back if you don't focus solely on the failure.
Hello Ayaz,
ReplyDeleteI think tenacity is the most important quality an entrepreneur should have. It is the drive that gets them into making a business and working as hard as they do. It is also great to hear that you have learned time management. That is a skill I am struggling with but do my best to stay productive.
